Ann's Background

Ann Knudson was born and raised in Sioux Falls, and is licensed to practice law in South Dakota and Minnesota. Ann is dedicated to being a strong voice for her clients and helping them move forward. She understands the ripple effects that unresolved legal issues create for individuals facing family law matters, business disputes, or criminal charges. She believes clients deserve responsive representation, clarity about options, and focused advocacy.

Ann earned her undergraduate degree from Harvard University, graduating with honors. Prior to law school, she worked in an elementary school in Kansas City, Kansas, and in a community center in Santiago, Chile, where children taught her colloquialisms not covered in her previous Spanish classes. During law school, Ann served as a student attorney for the State Public Defender’s Office clinic. She earned her Juris Doctorate with honors from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota.

After law school, Ann worked for the State of Minnesota as a Guardian ad Litem in child abuse and neglect cases. She later gained a valuable understanding of judicial decision-making and the inner operations of the court while working as a law clerk for a criminal division judge in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Ann went on to work with prominent family and civil litigation attorneys in Minnesota, gaining expertise in complex and international divorce issues, child support, adoption, and third-party custody cases. After returning to her home state of South Dakota, she worked for East River Legal Services, representing low-income clients and victims of domestic abuse in a wide spectrum of matters, including protection order cases, child custody disputes, and housing issues.

Outside of work, Ann enjoys spending time with her husband and children.
