Meet Karena

Karena, legal intern, is a third-year law student who brings a strong academic background and leadership experience to her role, including serving as Symposium Editor for the South Dakota Law Review. She has earned recognition for excellence in both advocacy and academics and remains actively engaged in the American Agricultural Law Association.

Karena's Background

Karena Verbitsky is originally from Minot, North Dakota. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, with a minor in Philosophy, from Bethany Lutheran College, graduating Summa Cum Laude and serving as Student Senate President.

Karena is currently a third-year law student, where she serves as Symposium Editor for the South Dakota Law Review, a graduate assistant to Professor Robert Miller, and Students and Young Professionals committee member for the American Agricultural Law Association.

Karena values excellence both in and outside of law school, being awarded 1st Place Intramural Trial Team, Best Advocate for Negotiations, and Dean's List recognition.

Outside the classroom, she competes in Olympic-style boxing and is currently ranked eighth in her weight class in the United States.

Karena resides in Vermillion, South Dakota, with her rescue dog, Jojo.
