Lauren's Background
Lauren Whitt is an attorney at Halbach|Szwarc Law Firm, where she focuses her practice on family law. She brings a client-centered and compassionate approach to matters involving divorce, custody, and other domestic relations issues, working closely with clients to provide clear, effective, and empathetic legal guidance during challenging times.
A native of Western Iowa, Lauren graduated magna cum laude from Buena Vista University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and English. Following her undergraduate studies, she worked as a Finance Assistant on Congressman Bruce Braley’s 2014 U.S. Senate campaign and later expanded her administrative experience while working at Queensland University of Technology in Australia.
Lauren earned her Juris Doctor with honors from Drake University Law School in 2021. During law school, she gained valuable legal experience through clerkships with Disability Rights Iowa, the ACLU of Iowa, and Roxanne Conlin & Associates. She also served as Managing Editor of the Drake Journal of Agricultural Law and participated in the Immigration and Refugee Clinic, deepening her advocacy skills and commitment to social justice.
Lauren is licensed to practice law in Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota. She is a member of the Iowa State Bar Association and the Woodbury County Bar Association.
Outside of her legal work, Lauren enjoys spending time with family, reading, watching movies, and exploring the outdoors.
